Metal Mimi was named in honor of the Metal Workers, Welders, and Artists who work to bring their Art to the Dust.
We are here to help them.
Born from Mud
The spectacular mud event at Burning Man (Mud Man 2023), brought Lisa Lavish (The Madam), Adam Lamb (Village Priest) and Ping (Chief of Play) together. Out of this extreme shared experience, our new camp was conceived.
Our mission, starting 2024: To support artists in bringing their work to our camp or to open Playa. We began by supporting our dear friend Dana Albany with her “Release” sculpture. We also assisted Haideen Anderson who created a Metal Mimi sculpture with flame effects. Artist Chris Struble built our flame effect towers. You will see in our photo gallery a small replica of the Release sculpture in our Lounge.
We experienced many lessons in 2024. We gained the understanding that we are not only here to spectate and enjoy the hard work of the other camps and artists. We now know that we will find the most joy and fulfillment through our service to the community. We know that by helping others with their experience, we find our way to the true meaning of Burning Man.

Plans for 2025
Artist Carles Garcia O’Dowd has been added to our core team. He will be our featured artist in 2025 and is hard at work on his massive 36’ dome gallery for our camp.
Alex our Rock Solid and Build Team Lead will return and see us through our build.
Adam Lamb is bringing his novel Bondage Meditation, a grounding sensory deprivation experience, into the mix.
The Metal Mimi Core are all hard at work laying the foundation for our camp and we are deep in the planning details.
